Armed Robbery Suspects Apprehended In Lemont: Cops

LEMONT, IL — Three suspects involved in an armed robbery in Joliet were apprehended in Lemont Saturday, police said. While attempting to stop the suspects, a Lemont squad car was involved in a car accident with two other vehicles at State Street and 127th Street.

Police said the driver of one of the cars and the police officer were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A reverse 911 text also was sent to all Will County residents about the incident. The text read: "The Will County Sheriff's office is currently searching your area for a (black male) wearing a blue jacket with a white strip on the back. Sheriff's department is advising all residents within this area to stay indoors keep doors locked and call 911 with anything suspicious."

The text was sent to residents at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, and the suspects were taken into custody in Lemont shortly after.

Identities of the suspects have not been released. Lemont detectives are working with Joliet police detectives on the investigation.
