Aster Gardens Opens In Downtown Lemont

LEMONT, IL — If you have a green thumb, or just love plants, Lemont's newest business is for you. Aster Gardens, a garden shop in downtown Lemont, opened last week.

Owner Amanda Thomsen said the store will concentrate on houseplants to start, but soon will have outdoor space for garden plants as well.

"We will have orchids, succulents, some rarities and old favorites," said Thomsen, who has been a professional horticulturist and garden designer for over 20 years. "We will have some fun plant accessories and cool home stuff as well."

Thomsen said she has always loved Lemont, but her friend Sommer Steele, who is the owner of Mabel's Market and Three Stories Books in downtown Lemont, "really midwifed" her opening her business in town.

Aster Gardens is located at 202 Stephen St. Hours will slightly vary for the first few weeks of opening, so check the website for updated hours. This week, the store is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
