LEMONT, IL — After its commissioner listening tour last year and surveys sent out to residents, Lemont Park District continues to develop its comprehensive master plan. After reaching out to the public last year, the park district said there was a lot of similar information given in the results. Many residents were interested in improving Bambrick Park, walking trails, the possible development of a downtown park and various program opportunities.

This year, the park district will be taking action and said the community can expect an improved Bambrick Park. This initiative was launched at the end of 2019 with the completion of some field upgrades.

In 2020, a connectivity path enabling accessibility to the quad fields and improved drainage are in the works. Phase one of field improvements for Bambrick field A will also begin. The improvements will include new fencing, drainage improvements, an infield life and a grass infield, the park district said. That project will begin in mid-July and will take four to six weeks.

“Once again, the Lemont Park District and board would like to especially thank residents for
taking time out of their day to provide vital feedback to us! We are so grateful for your time,
efforts and passion about our park district and we look forward to addressing your requests,”
Park District Board President Brian Pepich said in a release. “Also, we are excited to announce that we are researching properties downtown for a possible future park presence.”

The recreation department has also added several programs which were requested, including youth art classes and adult dance classes.

“The team not only will continuously research trends, but we will keep listening,” Director of Recreation and Communications Carrie Dellamano said in a release. “We are in the process of putting together a program which will keep the conversation going enabling residents to weigh in on a more regular basis, so stay tuned,” she added.
