Bootleg Bash Raises $12,000 to Support Lemont Students

The D113A fundraiser March 7 was a hit.

Ruffled Feathers Golf Club transformed to a 1920s speakeasy Saturday night for the SD 113A Educational Foundation’s Bootleg Bash. By the end of evening, the group raised $12,000 to fund enrichment materials and programs for the schools.

“Foundation trustees and the event committee outdid themselves creating a spectacular experience for our guests.” said Foundation President Shelley Taylor. “We had a great mix of district families, community members, district staff, Board of Education members and business sponsors in attendance.”

Business sponsors of the event included Citgo, Champions, IMTT, 3 Corners Grill & Tap, MB Financial Bank and Forzley Eye Care. Many more businesses donated raffle and silent auction prizes.

The profits for this event will fund grants to be awarded to district teachers in the spring. Disrict staff are invited to submit applications through April 15. Awarded grants will be implemented during the 2015-2016 school year. Past grants have funded science equipment, iPads, software licenses, math games and reading enrichment materials across all grades in the district.
