Cheering on the Quarryman Runners, Young and Old
Lemont's annual 10-mile and 5K race makes even the non-runners appreciate those who take on the challenging, hilly course.
I moved to Lemont six years ago this month, and like clockwork the Quarryman race passes by my house (or close to it). As a diehard non-runner, I decided to go out Saturday and take some pictures for my blog.
What I never expected to see was how many people I knew. Or that I'd cheer on huffing and puffing old men and cheerful, yet red faced old ladies. Gosh! They were really doing it! I was so proud of them!
Anyways, back to the people I knew. I felt so proud of the people I knew — I saw K.C. Wallenberg, Susan Wasmund, Ruth Elenteny, and hey, I even saw Ms. Gottardo's sister (my daughter's first grade teacher's sister). I was so proud of these ladies. Some older than me, most younger.

My daughter joined me as we cheered on friends and strangers alike. Next year, my daughter and I decided to join up. They inspired both of us. Thanks ladies of Lemont! You have once again inspired me, even more...
