Trojan Hockey: Winning Big in Fox Valley

Trojans win in two high-scoring games.

The Trojans played two games Oct. 29-30, facing the South Elgin Storm (again) on Saturday and the Bulldogs (Batavia, Kaneland, Oswego, and Aurora Christian High Schools) on Sunday.

On Saturday, the Trojans came out on fire, scoring two goals in the first two minutes and nine goals by the time the third period buzzer rang. Joe Sambucci earned another hat trick (within the first three minutes) and scored one more goal in the second period. Bryan Roy had an amazing game, scoring twice and earning a playmaker (technically three assists – but he actually had four).

Additional goals were scored by Danny Desmond and Mike Cronin (2). Also getting points for assists were Bryan Dirst, Danny Dirst, Byron Graf and David Ulanski. Our strong defense kept the Storm to only eight shots on goal. Final score was 9-2.

Those sticks were on fire again on Sunday when the Trojans faced the Bulldogs. The boys looked like they had been playing together for years. Their stickhandling was controlled, the passing was tight and their positioning was perfect.

Nine goals were scored in this game by Joe Paloian, Danny Dirst (2), Bryan Roy (2), Kyle Millinowisch (2), T.J. Laper and Joe Sambucci. Two of the goals were scored on power plays, the other seven at full strength. Assists were provided by Kyle Millinowisch, Danny Desmond (playmaker), Mike Cronin, David Ulanski and Joe Paloian. Joe Stolfo earned his first shutout thanks to our defense, which held the Bulldogs to 10 shots on net. Trojans won 9-0.

One of the keys to these big wins was the Trojans ability to stay out of the penalty box (for the most part). Only one penalty was served on Saturday and three on Sunday.

NOTE: The Trojans are in need of another goalie. If you know of anyone who is looking for a team to play for, please contact us via the email address listed below. We are also still accepting skaters.

The next game will be played away on Nov. 6 in Franklin Park, IL.
