On September 9, 2026, in partnership with the Homer Township Public Library, the Lemont Artists Guild is pleased to present, at the library, experienced Fine Artist, Beth Leahy, who will do an oil painting demonstration of a still life subject and talk about several aspects of working with oil paint. She will discuss using a limited palette, working general to specific, edges/outlines, background, final tweaking of the subject and touch on color mixing. She will have a handout that attendees can take home for reference. Beth has been creating art since childhood. She has been teaching art to adults since 1998 and has done many workshops in the Chicagoland area. She currently teaches at McCord Cultural Center and Gallery in Palos Park, IL.

Creating Your Career in the Arts - Kaitlin Fron</li><li>An honest discussion on how to assess and focus on different paths to a career related to music/theatre, and what it looks like to build the life you want while meeting your needs as a human, especially in today's economy. Explore choosing the right degree versus training independently and other paths to consider. Explore how to manage your career and have life balance for all you need to do and all you wish to become on stage!</li><li></li><li>1:00 Stage Physicality and Scene Study - Felicia Pfluger Learn techniques for acting authentically under imaginary circumstances, emotional preparation, and scene creation. In this workshop, students learn to break down script material to understand implicit and explicit meaning with their scene partner. Join us for an immersive falconry experience that you will remember for a lifetime! As part of this class, you’ll learn about the ancient sport of falconry and the biology and history of the many different types of raptors used in the hunt (including hawks, buzzards, falcons and owls).
Participant: (Ages 9+) A Hands on Learning Experience! Participants will learn the art and history of falconry, raptor ecology and conservation while gaining HANDS ON EXPERIENCE. All Participants will hold a bird on a gloved hand, fly and call a hawk and feed a bird of prey.
Observers: (All Ages) Observers will learn the art and history of falconry, raptor ecology and conservation WITHOUT handling any birds Observers will enjoy this education only experience by observing demonstrations and interactions, while still seeing birds of prey up close. This experience DOES NOT handle, fly, or hold any birds.

About the American School of Falconry Established in 2014, the American School of Falconry started out with the mission of educating kids of all ages on the sport of falconry and the importance of raptor conservation. One of the most important parts of our mission is the support that we provide to our brethren in the Raptor Rehabilitation community. We are proud of our long history of supporting those organizations dedicated to keeping our wild raptors in the wild.
