Chance Of Snow, Below Average Temps For IL

Temps will be below average as we start March and there's a possiblity of snow this weekend.

Colder than normal temperatures will kick off the month of March and will stick around into the work week as well. The National Weather Service said a period of light snow and freezing drizzle is possible along and north of I-80 on Friday night. There is also a chance of snow on Saturday night and Sunday, but no accumulations seem to be expected.

Temps will stay in the 30s on Saturday, and will dip down into the 20s by Sunday, and Sunday night will be cold with a high of 4 degrees. As we look at the start of the work week, the NWS said wind chills could be down to levels that could cause frostbite on Monday and Tuesday mornings.

  • FRIDAY NIGHT: A chance of snow and freezing drizzle, mainly between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 25. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. North wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
  • SATURDAY NIGHT: A 20 percent chance of snow after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 20. North wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • SUNDAY: A 20 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 24. North wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
  • SUNDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, with a low around 1.
