Chance Of Storms Returns, Temps Up To 80 Degrees For IL

After a few days of sunshine and no rain, the chance for storms and showers returns this weekend. The National Weather Service said a washout is not expected, but there is a chance of storms Saturday evening and storms are even more likely on Sunday.

Saturday is expected to be near 80, with chances of rain increasing the further south you go. There is a 20 percent chance of rain near the Joliet area, and it increases to 30 percent for the Kankakee area.

On Sunday, temps will be in the upper 70s and the chance of rain and storms is greater. For the Elgin area, there's a 30 percent chance, and a 40 percent chance for the Joliet area.

  • FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 58. East northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • SATURDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. East northeast wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
  • SATURDAY NIGHT: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • SUNDAY: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. East wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 10 mph.
  • SUNDAY NIGHT: A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60.
