Hope and Friendship Foundation is collecting winter clothing, shoes, kitchen, small household items and vacuums to help those here and now.

Update Oct 23rd:

THE DONATION TRAILER HAS MOVED
The black trailer (now located behind the black and silver trailer)
for winter clothing/shoes, household items, vacuums is located on the
east side of Old Quarry (Park District Building side). Your donations
to the Black Trailer will help households right here within our community.

Or....you can
pull up to the east door of Old Quarry School on Friday Nov 2nd from
3-5pm and we will unload your car for you as we sort and assemble all of
the donations readying for "Give Away Day".

If 10% of you donate any and all gently used/new winter clothing/shoes/boots, kitchen items, vacuums that you do not need, or have the ability to offer 5% of our 19,000+ population (who live at or below poverty level or struggle without any assistance just above that "government line") will be blessed with winter clothing and shoes for their children and for themselves, work clothes, coats, new socks, kitchen items, and vacuums.

It seems so easy but it takes an incredible offering.....time.

Time to go through your closets and cabinets.

Time to decide what you can part with and what can be offered to a friend who could use what you do not need.

We are within the last two weeks of that collection drive.

If you have found the time or find the time in the next two weeks know that a generous friend has offered me the trailer to hold your donations and know that our incredible young volunteers will be happy to help you unload your car of donations on the very last day of donations Friday Nov 2nd between 3-3:30pm.

Pull up to the east gym door of Old Quarry and our young friends will unload your donations.

Otherwise, please feel free to drop your donations off to the black trailer in the rear of the Lemont Police Dept Parking lot.

After that the trailers will be re-located to the Old Quarry parking lot where they will remain until sorting day Nov 2nd.

If you think what you have won't help a friend within your arm's reach please read the following from a dear friend of mine who has had the wind knocked out of them more than too many times, yet keeps getting up from the mat.....

"I've had a talk with the kids. Just basically saying that, there's going to be times when we're going to be without certain things that maybe other people take it for granted and we'll just have to struggle with, our heads up, through those times.”

What a statement of determination, tenacity, grit and priorities. I love you all and thank you who can for reaching out to help those who need. You are keeping heads above water and hope alive in the storms. "Thank you" seems so weak so I'll just ask you to know that I pray for your blessings every single day and lift you in prayer as a blessing in my life and in my friend's lives.

Peace and love my friend,

Terri
