Cold, Sunny And Dry Weekend Ahead: Illinois Weather

Temps may be cold this weekend, but there is no chance of precipitation until the middle of the work week.

A cold, but dry weekend is expected for the Chicago area. According to the National Weather Service, there will be "quiet weather" through early next week. Temps will drop low once again on Friday night, and highs for Friday night and early Saturday are:

  • Elgin - 10 degrees
  • De Kalb - 10 degrees
  • Joliet - 12 degrees
  • Chicago - 20 degrees

Wind chill could bring temps down to 0 to 10 degrees, the NWS said. It will be coldest along and west of Fox Valley.

After the low temperatures on Friday night the high for the day on Saturday will be 32 and Sunday will be 35 degrees. The NWS said temps will start out this weekend well below normal and they will start to moderate with the start of the work week.

  • FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 16. West northwest wind around 5 mph.
  • SATURDAY: Sunny, with a high near 30. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.
  • SATURDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 18. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm.
  • SUNDAY: Sunny, with a high near 33. Calm wind becoming north northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.
  • SUNDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 19.
