Columbus Day Weekend: Freeze Warnings Issued, Temps In The 50s

Temps will remain in the 50s this weekend, although it should stay sunny and dry.

ILLINOIS — Temps will stay in the 50s all weekend, and a freeze warning has been issued for areas west of Chicago for early Saturday. The National Weather service said sub-freezing temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s are possible.

The freeze warning is in effect from 2 to 9 a.m. and includes the cities of Rockford, Crystal Lake, McHenry, Woodstock, DeKalb, Sycamore, Aurora, Elgin, Ottawa, Oswego and Yorkville.

Saturday has a high of 51 degrees, and winds could also gust as high as 35 mph. The weather service said Sunday has a high of 53, and again will be gusty, with winds up to 25 mph.

Columbus Day, a day off for many students and some adults in the workforce, will be mostly sunny with a high of 54.
