Construction Begins On Outdoor Fitness Court in Downtown Lemont

LEMONT, IL — Construction has started at the new outdoor fitness court in downtown Lemont, the park district shared on its Facebook page.

The fitness court, called the CORE Train Station, is located off of Front Street, next to Next Mex restaurant, according to the park district.

The location is provided by IDOT, and funding for the concrete for the fitness court is from the Village of Lemont, according to the park district website.

Lemont Park District was awarded $25,000 for the project in 2020 as part of the National Fitness Campaign's 2020 Healthy Cities Campaign annual grant program.

Open for individual training, the park district will also offer fitness classes and training programs at the fitness court.

A formal opening and ribbon cutting is planned for November, according to the park district.
