Construction Closes Northbound Lanes On Cal Sag Channel Bridge

Construction on the bridge began July 12.

LEMONT, IL — Northbound lanes are now fully closed on the Cal Sag Channel Bridge, according to a release from the village. IDOT announced that the closure is necessary for joint and steel repairs on the bridge. In order to complete the work, the northbound lanes on the Archer Avenue bridge over the Cal Sag Channel will be fully closed to traffic.

According to the release, the detour takes northbound Illinois 83/171 traffic eastbound on IL 83/Cal-Sag Road, northbound on U.S. 45, and westbound on 107th Street to meet back with Illinois 83. One lane on southbound Illinois 83/171 traffic will remain open, although, delays are expected at the intersection of 107th and IL 83-Cal Sag Road where the northbound detour merges back with Illinois 83.

The road will reopen for northbound traffic in mid-August, according to the release, but daily lane closures may be necessary to complete remaining work. The overall project is expected to be completed by the fall.
