Cook County Board To Vote On Trucking Business Rezoning In Lemont
Lemont residents who wish to voice their opposition to the proposed rezoning of a trucking business can attend the Cook County meeting.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont residents who wish to voice their opposition to the proposed rezoning of a trucking business can attend the Cook County Zoning Board of Appeals meeting in Chicago on Wednesday, Nov. 15. A bus will be leaving from the Lemont Township Community Center, 16300 Alba, at 8 a.m. and should return by 1:30 p.m.
The zoning committee's meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday and the committee will discuss the rezoning of J.P. McMahon Properties to an industrial zoning. According to board documents, the property is currently zoned R-4 single family residential.
The property, located at 16548 and 16572 New Ave., in Lemont, is in unincorporated Cook County. The Lemont Township supervisor has spoken out against the fuel trucking business rezoning.

"We believe rezoning this property is not in the best interest of the public," Township Supervisor Steve Rosendahl wrote in a letter to the editor. Several residents have also spoken out against the business, citing concerns of noise, lights and safety.
The Cook County Board will vote Wednesday on whether or not to approve the rezoning.
