Cool Start To Week Before Warmup, More Storms For Illinois

ILLINOIS — The start of the work week will be cooler as a cold front moves across the area Sunday afternoon. After storms on Sunday, temperatures on Monday will be in the 50s for most areas and the day has a high of 62 and it should be mostly sunny. The National Weather Service said a very strong low pressure system developing across the plains could also bring heavy rain and possibly severe storms to the area on Tuesday into Tuesday night.

Tuesday will also be cooler with a high of 67 and storms are possible. According to the NWS, temps will soar up into the 80s on Wednesday, but there could be rain on Wednesday morning and night. Thursday will also be warm with a high of 84, but again, storms and rain are possible.

Friday will stay warm with a high of 85, and there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, according to the NWS.

• TUESDAY: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. East wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

• WEDNESDAY: A 20 percent chance of showers before 1 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 80.
