Coronavirus Closes Gym, Daily Workouts Still Posted On Facebook

Since members can't come into the gym to work out, CrossFit Lemont allowed members to check out equipment and shares workouts on Facebook

LEMONT, IL — The coronavirus has closed various businesses across the county, forcing owners to make changes to their business model and get creative. In Lemont, CrossFit Lemont closed March 21 after Governor JB Pritzker announced only essential businesses would stay open.

Usually, gym members would come to the facility at 12301 New Ave., units B and C, and work out using the equipment at the gym. With the closing of non-essential businesses, that wasn't possible, so Lemont residents and owners Jen and Chris Knollin adapted.

Since members can't come into the gym, Jen and Chris allowed members to check out different equipment, including kettle bells, medicine balls, jump ropes and more. Many members have also set up small home gyms in their garages or basements.

Jen and Chris have also been posting daily workouts on CrossFit Lemont's Facebook page, and includes activities like strength training and running or walking outside. The workouts also provide a way for members' progress to still be tracked.

"The members have been great and seem to enjoy the posts and pictures," Chris said.
