D113A Names New Assistant Principal of River Valley

The chosen candidate has worked within the district for 10 years, in various positions and across all schools.

The Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education voted unanimously at the August 6, meeting to approve the appointment of Maggi Burkhardt to the position of Assistant Principal at River Valley School.

This position has been constructed in order to provide appropriate support and services for students, staff, and parents at River Valley. As a result of the relocation of fifth grade students back to the River Valley campus, the enrollment will increase from approximately 500 students to over 750 students for the upcoming school year.

Burkhardt has been with District 113A as a School Psychologist for 10 years and has served all of the buildings within the district at various points in her career. She has demonstrated a variety of leadership roles at a building-wide level as well as a District-wide level, having served on the Discipline Committee, School Improvement Teams, and the Crisis Team. She has also acted as a trainer for new staff orientation and served as an Internship Supervisor.

Burkhardt earned a Master of Arts in Education Administration from Governors State University. Additionally, she holds a Master of Arts in School Psychology with School Psychologist and General Administrative endorsements from the Illinois State Board of Education.

“We are so excited to add Mrs. Burkhardt’s experience to our Administrative team in District 113A. Her relationships with staff and families will serve her well in this new role,” said Board President Cindy Kelly.

“It has been an honor to work in the Lemont Schools, and I am excited to take on new responsibilities at River Valley School,” said Burkhardt. “I look forward to working with staff, students, and parents. I encourage any community members to contact me with any questions or comments.”

In addition, The Meet & Greet meeting scheduled for August 19 is an opportune time for parents to meet the new Assistant Principal.
