Damaging Winds, Torrential Rainfall Possible: Chicago Weather
There is a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 12 a.m.

CHICAGO, IL — A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the northern half of Illinois. According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, the watch is in effect until 12 a.m. Saturday for Boone, Bureau, Carroll, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Ford, Grundy, Henderson, Henry, Iroquois, Jo Daviess, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Knox, Lake, La Salle, Lee, Livingston, Marshall, McHenry, Mercer, Ogle, Peoria, Putnam, Rock Island, Stark, Stephenson, Warren, Whiteside, Will, Winnebago and Woodford counties.

According to the NWS, the main threat will be damaging winds up to 70 mph, with torrential rainfall and flooding possible.
