ILLINOIS — Illinoisians will get a little taste of early fall this weekend, and temperatures will stay in the 70s on both Saturday and Sunday. The National Weather Service said Saturday will have a high of 77 degrees, while Sunday may hit 80 degrees.

Both days will be unseasonably mild and also should stay dry with no precipitation in the forecast.

However, while the temps might be nice, there will be dangerous swim conditions at Lake Michigan beaches. According to the National Weather Service, breezy northeasterly winds will result in waves of 3 to 6 feet along Lake Michigan beaches, life-threatening currents and dangerous swimming conditions. The dangerous swim conditions will occur Friday night and may extend into Saturday.

The NWS also shared Lake Michigan continues to be at near-record high water levels. The lake's basic has received above normal precipitation, especially over the past year, and this has caused the high water levels. The NWS said the impacts of this could include greater frequency of minor flooding in low spots, and an increased risk of higher waves during strong wind episodes.
