District 113A Board Briefs: Aug. 26 Meeting

Several hirings were approved and students were recognized for various achievements.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont District 113A shares board briefs on its website after every board meeting. For the Aug. 26 meeting, the board shared several items, some of which can be found below.

With the start of the school year, several people were hired for various positions. At special board meetings on Aug. 5 and Aug. 19, the board had approved the hiring of: Emylee Zdarsky, second grade teacher at Oakwood; Bridget Fiore, second grade teacher at Oakwood; Michael Roberts, floating custodian; Timothy McElhaney, Old Quarry Head Varsity Baseball Coach; and Ian Welke, Old Quarry Assistant Varsity baseball coach. At its Aug. 26 meeting, the board approved the hiring of Moses Galindo, full-time custodian; and Aida Martinez, bus driver.

  • Madeline Galassi, Illinois Council for Exceptional Children "Yes I Can" Award for Academics
  • Patryk Jablonski, Illinois Council for Exception Children "Yes I Can" Award for Self-Advocacy
  • Eva Higgins, Illinois Art Education ASsociation 2019-2020 Student Art Show

The board also approved a 4-year lease of two additional buses from Midwest Transit; and 1-year lease with the Lemont Athletic Club.
