LEMONT, IL — On Tuesday, Feb. 13, students and their families joined the Lemont Police Department for dinner and fun. Eight members of the force welcomed their guests with warm conversation and activities, and left them with goodie bags from Walgreens, the district said.

According to the district, the guided tour of the jail was just one highlight of the evening. Another was Citgo (from the Lockport K-9 unit) and his master, who demonstrated the strength and discipline of a police dog. Families learned that Citgo’s sense of smell is 150,000 times keener that that of a human being and that he is known to jump over 6-foot high fences.

McDonalds supplied Happy Meals, SEASPAR brought slinky toys and fidget spinners, and “Mr. Juggler” entertained the crowd with his humor and amazing skills, the district said.
