Dry Monday Before Rain, Storms Return To IL

A dry start to the week will be in store on Monday with sun and a high of 75 degrees. The chance of rain and thunderstorms returns again on Tuesday, however. The National Weather Service said there is a 30 percent chance of storms on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Temps on Tuesday and Wednesday will both be at 81 degrees. There is a chance of severe weather on Tuesday afternoon, the NWS said. The chance of storms sticks around on Thursday and Friday, too.

The NWS said the high for Thursday will be 73, and the high for Friday is 74. There is a slight chance of storms on both days.

According to the NWS, wash-out conditions aren't expected, and there will be several dry hours throughout the week.

• MONDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 71. East wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south southeast in the afternoon.
• MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 57. East wind around 5 mph becoming south after midnight.
• TUESDAY: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
• TUESDAY NIGHT: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a low around 65. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
• WEDNESDAY: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82.
• WEDNESDAY NIGHT: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59.
• THURSDAY: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 73.
• THURSDAY NIGHT: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58.
• FRIDAY: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74.
