Employee Killed In Workplace Accident At Lemont Facility

The Naperville man passed away Monday after an accident involving a collapsed hopper.

LEMONT, IL — A Naperville man was killed in a workplace accident on Monday at Ozinga, a concrete and building material facility, in Lemont. Ozinga said the employee passed away following an accident at the Lemont facility.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Michael McClaren, 30, of Naperville. He was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m. Nov. 26 at 11400 Old Lemont Road and the cause of death was multiple injuries due to industrial accident.

Ozinga issued a statement about the accident and said it extends its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of McClaren.

"Ozinga is cooperating with authorities in the ongoing investigation of the accident," Marty Ozinga, president of the company, said in a release. "We are deeply saddened by this tragic event. We are working with officials to determine the cause of the accident."

The Sun Times reported McClaren was fatally injured when a hopper used to supply material to a conveyor collapsed and struck McClaren.
