Everest Academy Hosts Annual Science Fair Showcasing Student Curiosity and Excellence

Grades 6–8 students presented hands-on science projects judged by students and community members.

Lemont, IL — January 26 — Everest Academy hosted its annual Science Fair on Monday, January 26, during the school day, providing students with the opportunity to showcase their curiosity, creativity, and academic excellence.

Students across grades 6-8 proudly presented projects that reflected thoughtful research, hands-on experimentation, and a genuine curiosity about the world around them. Topics ranged from environmental science and engineering to biology and chemistry, demonstrating both depth of knowledge and enthusiasm for discovery.

The Science Fair was judged by a distinguished panel that included Everest Academy Honor and AP Science students, as well as members of the local community. Their involvement provided meaningful feedback to participants while highlighting the school’s commitment to mentorship, leadership, and collaboration across age groups.

“Having our Honor and AP Science students serve as judges was especially meaningful,” said Mary Tellefsen, Executive Director of Everest Academy. “It allowed our younger students to see what is possible as they grow academically, while reinforcing the importance of service and leadership among our upper-level students.”

At Everest Academy, science education emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and wonder—encouraging students to explore God’s creation with curiosity and purpose. The annual Science Fair reflects this mission by giving students an opportunity to apply classroom learning in a meaningful, hands-on way.
