Feltmaking

History and techniques of making felt.

On February 14, 2024, at 7 pm, in partnership with the Homer Township Public Library, the Lemont Artists Guild is pleased to present, at the library, Feltmaking, where multi-talented and award winning fiber artist, Betty Burian Kirk, will share the fine art craft of feltmaking. She will go over many aspects of feltmaking including the history of making felt, how it is made, and its contemporary techniques and uses. A lucky attendee will win one of Betty’s felted hearts! Also, a former teacher, some of Betty’s many talents include weaving, spinning, ribbon flowers, tassels, Japanese bookbinding and braiding (Kumihimo). Betty frequently teaches at regional and national conferences. This summer she will be teaching Japanese bookbinding at Convergence 2024 in Wichita KS as well as spinning novelty yarns.
