LEMONT, IL — Lieutenant Dave Spivak of the Lemont Fire Protection District was named firefighter of the year by the Lemont Chamber of Commerce in the community's Best Of Lemont awards. The department said Spivak has worked for the department since 1997 and has had the rank of lieutenant since 2015.
Spivak has also served as Local IAFF 3966 Union President since 2008 and the department said he has established an outstanding relationship between the firefighters, Trustees and Chief administration. He has also formed great friendships with a lot of local business owners when collaborating on community projects.
Chief George Rimbo said Spivak has gone above and beyond in the District’s Adopt a Firefighter program, acting as a positive influence in the classroom and community. Spivak concluded his year of classroom visits by inviting St. Pats/St. Al’s first grade class to the firehouse for a pizza party.
