Flooding Reported, Wind Advisory Issued Thursday For IL
Winds are expected to gust to 45 mph Thursday morning as much of the area reports flooding from heavy rain.
ILLINOIS — After a rainy Wednesday, some towns, especially in the north suburbs, have now received over 3 inches of rain over the past few days. The forecasted rain is almost over as rain is expected to end Thursday afternoon, but first some high winds are expected.
Winds will gust to 40 to 45 mph Thursday morning, the weather service said. Higher gusts are also possible along the lakefront which could cause high waves resulting in lakeshore flooding.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for various rivers in the Chicago area, including: Des Plaines River at River Forest affecting Cook County; DuPage River near Plainfield affecting Will County; north branch of the Chicago River in Chicago affecting Cook County.

As of Thursday morning, several roads have also closed due to flooding around the Chicago area. According to IDOT:
- US 30 closed from Hickory to Highland Park Drive in Joliet due to flooding
- IL 171 LaGrange Road ramp in Willowbrook closed due to flooding
- 107th Avenue closed from Kean to LaGrange in Palos Hills due to flooding
- IL 53 closed from IL 56 to Park in Glen Ellyn due to flooding
- 135th closed from Harlem Avenue to Ridgeland due to flooding
After Thursday's winds and rain die down, the next few days are expected to be mild, the weather service said. Friday has an expected high of 65 degrees, while Saturday will be 75.
