Forest Preserve To Stock Lemont Quarry With Fish
The Forest Preserves of Cook County has announced the inland trout fishing season will open on Saturday, April 7 at Sag Quarry East.

LEMONT, IL — The Forest Preserves of Cook County has announced the 2018 spring inland trout fishing season will open on Saturday, April 7 at Sag Quarry East in Lemont. According to the preserve, 500 pounds of rainbow trout will be purchased and stocked in the the quarry. These are catchable sized rainbow trout, in the 1/2 – 1 lb. size range.
The preserve said in a release that all its trout lakes will be closed to all fishing from Monday, April 2, until sunrise on Saturday, April 7, allowing the trout to disperse throughout the water prior to opening. As part of the IDNR’s stocking program, fishing for and possession of any trout is illegal from March 15 until 5 a.m. on April 7.
Once the season opens, there is a five trout per day creel limit with no size restrictions. The preserve said no more than two lines per person with no more than two hooks per line may be used. A valid Illinois sport fishing license with an Inland Trout Stamp is required for anglers 16 years of age and older.
