Four Lemont Bears Headed to the IKWF State Finals March 13-14

The Lemont Bears Wrestling Club will send 4 wrestlers to the Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation state finals this weekend in Rockford.

Out of a tough sectional held at Mt. Carmel High School in Chicago this previous Sunday, two returning state qualifiers Drew Nash and Frankie Montalto will be headed back to the state tourney, along with Paul McGrath and Apollo Gothard.

Drew Nash finished 2-1 on the day in the 115-pound. Novice division (11-12 Year olds). Apollo Gothard was 1-1 on the day to finish in 2nd place in the 138-pound Novice division.

In the Senior division (13-14 year olds), Paul McGrath finished in 2nd place at 79 pounds. And Frankie Montalto 1-1 on the day also finished runner up in the 147-pound weight class.

On the season Nash is 32-13 with 23 pins. Gothard is 14-7 with 6 pins. McGrath is 11-9 with 4 pins and Montalto is 18-10 with 8 pins.

Kyle Zator and Tyler Wilms finished in 4th place, just missing out on a trip to state. Both wrestlers will be alternates. Zator ends his season at 22-9 with 6 pins and Wilms was 20-8 with 12 pins.

The Bears will send several of their 9-10-year-olds to the Intermediate State Tournament in Danville March 21–22. Led by Carter Mikolajczak, Harrison Camp, Jaden Davis,Payton Salomon, Sam Schuit, Evan Schiffman, Nate Wrublik, John Oconnor, Noah Oconnor, Drey Wisdom, Jack Cryer, AJ Heeg, Cole Brannigan and Tyler Wilms.
