Freeze Warning Saturday Night, Temps In The 20s

Here is the weather for this upcoming weekend.

Fall has definitely settled in to the Chicagoland area. The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a freeze warning from 11 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday, and temperatures are expected to drop to the upper 20s or lower 30s on Saturday night.

The freeze warning is in effect for several counties in Illinois and includes the cities of:Rockford, Belvidere, Woodstock, Waukegan, Oregon, Dixon, DeKalb, Aurora, Elgin, Wheaton, Chicago, Ottawa, Oswego, Morris, Joliet, Kankakee, Pontiac, Watseka and Paxton. The NWS said the lowest temperatures will be west of the Fox River Valley.

On Saturday, temps will be in the low 40s with a 20 percent chance of a light rain/snow mix. Saturday night will bring the freeze warning into effect, with frost likely. On Sunday, temps will rise slightly to the mid to upper 40s.

Here is a more detailed look at the forecast for the days ahead:

  • FRIDAY NIGHT: Cloudy, with a low around 34. West southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
  • SATURDAY: Cloudy, with a high near 41. West northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
  • SATURDAY NIGHT: Widespread frost after 3 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 30. West northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • SUNDAY: Widespread frost before 10am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 46. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • SUNDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • MONDAY: A slight chance of rain and snow showers before 9am, then a slight chance of rain showers between 9am and 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 48. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
