Freezing Temps, Gusts Up To 40 MPH: IL Weekend Weather

The snow might be gone, but it will still feel like winter this weekend.

Although the snow won't continue into the weekend, strong winds and freezing temperatures will still make it feel like winter. According to the National Weather Service, strong west northwest winds will develop Friday into Friday night, and gusts as high 40 mph are expected.

Temperatures are expected to fall as low as 16 degrees on Friday night, and wind chill could bring those temps down to zero, according to the NWS. Saturday will have a "December chill" and highs will only be around 32 degrees. Temps will drop down again at night and will be around 5 degrees with wind chill.

The NWS said things will warm up slightly on Sunday, when the high will be 39 degrees. Both Saturday and Sunday will be windy, with gusts up 20 mph.
