Road Reopens In Lemont After Gas Leak

LEMONT, IL — UPDATE: Illinois Street is now reopened, according to a release. All equipment has been removed and the gas leak has been mitigated.

Original Story: Illinois Street from Lemont Street to Stephen Street is closed due to an active gas leak. According to a public safety notification from Lemont Police Department, a gas meter was struck in the 300 block of Illinois, and the road has been closed for the safety of the public.

According to the safety notification, Nicor is already on scene and working to resolve the leak. The duration of the leak could be several hours.
