Car Show Canceled, Roads Closed Due To Gas Leak In Lemont
A construction company hit an unmarked gas line in downtown Lemont.
LEMONT, IL — A gas leak has been reported in downtown Lemont on Wednesday. Lemont Police said a construction company hit an unmarked gas line near Stephen and Illinois streets in downtown Lemont.
Traffic is being diverted downtown through Main Street as a result of the gas leak. The Heritage Corridor Business Alliance posted on Facebook that the car show on Wednesday has been canceled for traffic and safety reasons.
Residents on social media said they could smell the gas from a few streets away, and that traffic was backed up badly throughout downtown.
