Get a Sneak Peek at the Lineup for 'Pizza Fest' Fundraiser

Have you purchased your tickets yet?

Still mulling if you’ll attend Lemont High School Educational Foundation’s ’Pizza Fest’ Sept. 20? We thought we’d give you a quick peek at some of the vendors participating.

From 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, the LHSEF will host “Food for Thought: Pizza Fest!” at Talcott Square in downtown Lemont. This fun, family-friendly event—made possible in part by presenting sponsor Citgo—will feature some of the best pizza that Lemont and its surrounding communities can offer.

“Food for Thought” traditionally is the LHSEF’s most important annual fundraiser, and for the first time, its event this year will be open to all ages. Parents, students, younger siblings, community members .... all are invited! Lemont High School students will have an opportunity to earn Homecoming spirit points for their respective classes by showing their “Pizza Fest!” ticket stub during Homecoming Week.

Attendees will be hard-pressed to find a better dinner deal on a Saturday night! A $10 ticket entitles the bearer to eight pizza squares—one from each of the participating restaurants, which include: Ats a Nice Pizza, Beggars Pizza, Gelsosomo’s Pizzeria, Jimbo’s Pizza, Nancy’s Pizza, Pizza Mia, StoneHouse Pub, and Turnabout Pizza. Each of the participating restaurants also will have a coupon on the back of the ticket for future use.

Beer and wine will be available for purchase, from Pollyanna Brewing and Otto Brandt Wines, respectively. Several of the participating restaurants will be selling soda and water.

While the tasty food and beverage will be the star of the show, attendees also will be treated to a series of musical performances from current Lemont High School students. The evening also will offer the opportunity for attendees to win a variety of prizes through a series of raffles.

The evening’s big winner will take home the “Chicago Sports Fan” package, which includes tickets for the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox and University of Notre Dame football; foursomes at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club, Joliet Country Club and Idlewild Country Club; and potentially more sports experiences! Tickets are just $25 or five for $100.

Both “Pizza Fest!” tickets and sports raffle tickets may be purchased in the PPS Office at Lemont High School from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.; or via e-mail by contacting LHSEF event co-chairs Vicki Burton (vburton46@att.net) or Brenda Douglass (bdouglass68@yahoo.com). Students may purchase event tickets in the PPS Office, or during lunch periods through September 18. Purchasing “Pizza Fest!” tickets in advance is strongly encouraged, as the ticket price will increase to $15 at the door that evening. “Food for Thought: Pizza Fest!” will be a rain or shine event.

The Foundation has awarded nearly $250,000 in grants to aid Lemont High School’s students, faculty and staff since 2007. A primary reason it has been able to provide that level of support is the success of the “Food for Thought” series.

Proceeds from “Food for Thought” benefit the LHSEF, whose mission is to partner with the community to make lasting improvements to Lemont High School that will enhance the total educational experience for all of its students. The Foundation funds and supports programs and opportunities that aid students’ growth, both academically and as citizens of the Lemont community. The Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable organization. All gifts to the Foundation are tax- deductible to the extent provided by the law.
