Heavy, Wet Snow Possible on Christmas Eve

A narrow band of heavy, wet snow could affect a portion of the Chicago area.

The National Weather Service is tracking a heavy winter storm system that could affect a portion of the Chicago area on Christmas Eve.

It’s unclear at this point where exactly a narrow heavy snow band will hit but the National Weather Service is predicting it could bring three to six inches of wet snow on Wednesday.

The affected area could see snowfall rates of one to two inches per hour and white-out conditions, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasts show the narrow snow band could run anywhere from as far east as northwest Indiana to as far west as a “Marengo to LaSalle line,” according to the National Weather Service.

For the majority of the area not concentrated to that snow band, only light snow accumulations are expected on Christmas Eve.
