Burglary In Lemont, Two Suspects Sought After

A burglary occurred Thursday night in Lemont, and two suspects escaped on foot.

LEMONT, IL — A burglary and battery occurred in Lemont Thursday night, and two suspects are currently sought after. Lemont Police Chief Marc Maton said there was a burglary in the 100 block of Lahinch in the Ruffled Feathers subdivision at 6:15 p.m. Thursday. Police are currently searching for two male suspects.

The incident was originally classified as a home invasion, but police have now learned that the two residents came home and surprised the two offenders. The offenders came out of the home and one punched the homeowner in the face. Police said the homeowner refused medical treatment, and wasn't severely injured.

Lemont Police said this was not a random act of violence. Police would not say who the suspects were, but said they have leads they are pursuing.

The offenders fled on foot after the incident, according to police. The suspects ran into a wooded area, and police continue to search. Police said no weapons were displayed during the incident. Ruffled Feathers is a gated community, and the offenders gained access by walking in on foot.

Residents first reported hearing a helicopter over the subdivision, before police activity was reported. A police perimeter has been set up at 131st, Archer and Derby.
