Homer Junior High students will participate in two upcoming Illinois Music Education Association music festivals.
HOMER GLEN, IL — Several Homer Glen Junior High students will participate in the Illinois Music Education Association's District I music festival for the elementary and junior high division at Lincoln-Way Central on Saturday, according to a release from the district.
The festival involves over 500 students selected from more than 60 schools throughout the southwestern metropolitan Chicago area, the district said. There will be concerts for a 100-member festival band, 100-piece festival orchestra and a mixed-voice festival chorus.
From Homer Glen Junior High, three honor chorus students and two honor band members were selected by audition to participate in the festival. Jake Chentinik, Samantha Dobrzanski, Olivia Sweeney, Tommy Boguslawski (clarinet) and Sarah Clawson (tuba) will participate on Saturday.

The Illinois Music Education Association Senior and Junior High Division will also hold its annual District 1 jazz festival at Oak Lawn Community High School on Nov. 13. Eighth grade band member Kurt Biggus was nominated for that festival, and will perform on the trumpet with one of the junior jazz bands, the district said.
