Hour-By-Hour Illinois Forecast: Record-Cold Temps
After the snow ends Monday afternoon, temperatures will quickly drop and wind chill will make it seem even colder outside.
ILLINOIS — Not only will Monday have accumulating snowfall and snow covered roads, but record cold temperatures are also expected to move into the area.
The National Weather Service said 2 to 6 inches of snow are expected, with higher totals to the north and lower totals to the south. Conditions will be the worst from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Aurora, 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. in Waukegan, 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Chicago, 6 a.m. to noon in Joliet and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Kankakee.

With the cold temperatures, there are a couple things you can do to prepare your car and home, the weather service said. Check the battery in your car, check your coolant, check your tires and make sure you have jumper cables and a blanket in your car.
For your home, check your furnace and chimneys. You should also check your carbon monoxide detector and insulate any exposed pipes.
