IDOT Six-Year Plan Includes Lemont Projects

Improvements on Main Street were included in IDOT's plans for 2024-2029.

LEMONT, IL — The Illinois Department of Transportation released its six-year plan, which includes $175.8 million in transportation improvements in the 41st District, which includes Lemont, according to a release from State Sen. John Curran's office.

The plan has earmarked $41 billion across the state, including 33 projects in the 41st District.

“These projects will have a meaningful impact in reducing congestion, increasing safety and growing jobs and economic opportunity in our district,” said Illinois Senate Republican Leader John Curran. “Our constituents have been very clear about the need to invest in our infrastructure, and today is another step closer to accomplishing that goal.”

The latest version of the statewide plan was unveiled Friday, and will begin in fiscal year 2024, going through 2029.

“Illinois, and our District specifically, are transportation hubs for the nation,” Curran said in a release. “Continuing to invest in our infrastructure not only ensures safe, efficient travel, it also creates jobs and the quality of life for our residents. I am proud to share these plans today and look forward to working with all stakeholders as the projects break ground.”

Projects in Lemont include:

  • Main Street, from Wheeler Drive to Archer Avenue, $865,000 for construction engineering, and $11 million for bridge replacement, culvert replacement and drainage
  • Main Street, Walker Road extension; $228,000 for phase 2 engineering

All the projects are listed under fiscal years 2025-2029.
