Inch Of Rain Possible, Temps Warm Up To 50: IL Weekend Weather

The rain on Saturday should melt away the rest of the snow and that could lead to minor flooding in some areas.

The remaining snow from last weekend's winter storm should melt away with warmer temperatures and rain on Saturday. According to the National Weather Servicce, rain will start late Friday night and into Saturday. An inch of rain is expected for most areas, and thunderstorms are also possible.

Projected rainfall totals for the area are:

  • Joliet - .5 to 1"
  • Kankakee - 1 to 1.5"
  • Rockford - .5 to 1"
  • Waukegan - .5 to 1"
  • Chicago - 1 to 1.5"
  • Elgin -.5 to 1"
  • DeKalb - .5 to 1"

The NWS said the combination of rain and melting snow could cause standing water in low lying/poor drainage areas. Some river locations could also experience minor flooding.
