Knights in Service: Friendship Day Brings Joy, Connection to Everest Academy

Lemont, IL – Everest Academy was filled with laughter, music, and meaningful connections on Monday, January 19, as students hosted Knights in Service: Friendship Day, a special event welcoming adults from the special needs community for an afternoon of fun and friendship.

Throughout the afternoon, Everest students opened their classrooms and hearts, guiding guests through a variety of hands-on activities designed to encourage connection and joy. Participants rotated through stations featuring crafts, games, puzzles, sports activities, and dancing, creating an atmosphere that was both welcoming and celebratory.

The event was rooted in Everest Academy’s commitment to service and human dignity. Students took on the role of hosts, offering support, encouragement, and companionship to each guest, ensuring everyone felt included and valued. Friendship Day provided students with a meaningful opportunity to live out the school’s mission by serving others with kindness and respect.

In addition to the activities, Everest’s eighth-grade class offered a soup and sandwich lunch, giving guests the chance to gather together and enjoy a shared meal before the afternoon programming began.

Knights in Service: Friendship Day was a powerful reminder of the impact simple acts of kindness can have. For both students and guests, the afternoon created lasting memories and reinforced the importance of community, inclusion, and genuine friendship.
