Child, Man Safely Recovered After Barricade Situation: Sheriff

Both were taken to a local hospital for evaluation; the man was taken into custody, police said.

LEMONT, IL — A child and a man were safely recovered and taken to a local hospital for evaluation after a barricade situation at a home in unincorporated Lemont Township, the Cook County Sheriff's Office said.

The sheriff's office had first responded at 9:14 a.m. Tuesday to Oak Avenue off of Walker Road. At 5:50 p.m., members of the sheriff's police hostage barricade team entered the home and were able to safely recover the man and child.

There were no injuries, and no other people were inside the home, police said.

The man was taken into custody and the investigation is ongoing, according to police.
