Lead Service Line Replacement Program Begins In Lemont

Lemont homeowners can fill out a questionnaire, providing the Village with information about the material of their service line.

LEMONT, IL — The Village of Lemont has started its lead service line replacement program, and needs information from Lemont homeowners.

The program, which is mandated by the state, includes the replacement of any water service lines made from lead in homes built before 1986, or with materials made between 1986 and 2014, according to the Village. The Village will be responsible for the replacement.

Lemont homeowners can fill out a questionnaire, providing the Village with information about the material of their service line. Questionnaires are due by Aug. 15.

"It is imperative that we collect your information so the Village can get the best estimate of the cost of the replacement project and determine a timeline based on the number of homes built before 1986 with lead service lines," the Village said.

A public information meeting about the program will also be held on Aug. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 418 Main St.
