Lemont Approves Amendment To 2011 Annexation Agreement

The amendment to a 2011 annexation agreement is for a parcel at McCarthy and Bell roads.

LEMONT, IL — At its Monday board meeting, the Lemont Village Board approved an amendment to a 2011 annexation agreement of a parcel at McCarthy and Bell roads.

The 8.7-acre parcel is on the southwest corner of the intersection, according to Board documents.

Economic and Community Development Director Jason Berry said the matter went through the planning and zoning commission in June, and again in September, and then the committee of the whole.

"[It] is recommended, instead of the preliminary planned unit of development that was first presented to the planning and zoning commission, to approach the development through an annexation agreement," Berry said.

The property was annexed to the Village in 2011 as B-3 commercial.

"This annexation agreement amendment adds two concept site plans and two concept elevations to the original agreement," Berry said.

Berry said that any special use or planned unit development would still go back through the various levels of the Village commissions and boards.

The preliminary planned unit development was proposed as Sun Hill Plaza multi-building commercial development, by R/J Rymek and Company.
