Lemont Baseball Player Commits To Heartland Community College

Lemont High School senior first baseman/outfielder Jack Small has committed to play baseball at Heartland Community College.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School senior first baseman/outfielder Jack Small has committed to play baseball at Heartland Community College beginning in Spring 2019. According to LHS, some career highlights for Jack Small are:

• Two-time letterman for head coach Brian Storako
• Lemont has won 30 games in each of his varsity seasons, marking the first back-to-back 30-win seasons in program history
• Over the last two seasons, Lemont has won two South Suburban Conference-Blue Division titles, two IHSA Regional crowns, one IHSA Sectional championship and one IHSA Super-Sectional crown, and captured the 2016 IHSA Class 3A State Championship
• Has compiled a .286 career batting average with two home runs and 32 runs batted in
• Of his 36 career hits, 12 have gone for extra bases
• Also has posted a .413 slugging percentage and a .416 on-base percentage in his career
• Has been successful on 10-of-11 stolen base attempts over two seasons
• Batted .263 with two home runs and 19 runs batted in as a junior in 2017
• Tied for fourth on the team in home runs, and tied for fifth with 14 walks
• Posted a career-best slugging percentage of .456
• Lemont posted a 30-6 record and won both SSC Blue and IHSA Regional titles
• Made his varsity debut as a sophomore in 2016, hitting a career-best .304 with 13 runs batted in
• Posted a career-best .429 on-base percentage, and was successful on all seven of his stolen base attempts
• The Indians went 30-9 on their way to capturing SSC Blue, IHSA Regional, IHSA Sectional and IHSA Super-Sectional titles, and winning the 2016 IHSA Class 3A State Championship
• Plays travel baseball for the Cangelosi Sparks
• Will play for head coach Brian Furlong at Heartland Community College, which is located in Normal, and a member of the Mid-West Athletic Conference. The Hawks went 39-18 in 2017 and finished fourth in the league standings.
