Lemont to Celebrate Expansion of Metra's Heritage Corridor Line
Celebration planned for Monday, March 14.

—From the Village of Lemont
Join us as we honor the past and embrace the future of the Heritage Corridor Line. On Monday, March 14, 2016, a celebration will take place at the Lemont Metra Station to welcome the addition of the newly added 3:28 p.m. arrival time on the Heritage Corridor Line. A special guest from the past will be there: President Abraham Lincoln. Also joining us are members of Stanford’s Battery with their authentic 1846 cannon which will sound as we welcome the train into town and again toward the end of our celebration.
After partaking in the Metra press event in Chicago, Mayor Reaves, Congressman Lipinski and Village Administrator George Schafer will depart from the Union Station at 2:45 p.m., being among the first group of riders to arrive at the Lemont Metra Station at this added time.

“This is a significant day in history for Lemont and the Heritage Corridor Line. To see the fruition of the additional service finally take place is astounding,” stated Reaves. “The process Metra, Congressman Lipinski, and Mayors and elected officials along the Heritage Corridor Line endured to accomplish this task was quite a feat. The efforts and cooperation put forth from the Canadian National Railway and Amtrak to bring this additional weekday service to the Heritage Corridor Line are greatly appreciated. We invite all citizens of Lemont and the surrounding communities to join us in celebration upon the arrival of the 3:28 p.m. Metra train on Monday, March 14.”
Mayor Reaves was appointed to the Commuter Rail Board (Metra) in October 2013, and was reappointed in June of 2015 for a full four-year term. He has been involved in various transportation issues over the past several years and serves on the Transportation Committee and is the Legislative Chairman for the Southwest Conference of Mayors. Reaves is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Will County Governmental League, chairs their Legislative Committee and is a long standing member of the Metra Heritage Corridor Alliance. He continues his quest to bring the Heritage Corridor Line into the 21st Century.
