Lemont Chooses St. Patrick's Parade Queen Who's Jazzed About Band

The Village of Lemont announced this week that Suzanne (Suzie) Knutte, a junior at Lemont High School, has been selected as queen of the 2022 St. Patrick’s Day Parade to be held this Saturday, March 5th at 1 p.m. in Historic Downtown Lemont.

Suzie is a lifetime resident of Lemont and the youngest of four children. She plays soccer for Lemont High School and other competitive leagues. Additionally, she is a member of the Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, the National English Honor Society, the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, and the Science Club, and maintains an A average in all her studies.

Primary among her passions, Suzie plays trumpet for Lemont High School's marching, symphonic, and jazz bands. She also serves as section leader for high brass during the band's competitive marching season and is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. One week after the parade, she will perform with the Lemont High School Jazz Band at the 32nd Annual Jazz Band Dinner Dance, a benefit on Saturday, March 12th to raise funds for the school's music program. In response to her selection as the 2022 St. Patrick's Day Parade Queen, Suzie said, "I am honored to be selected to represent Lemont High School and I look forward to celebrating the month of March with the Lemont community. It's awesome that we can have parades and dinner dances again."

The village's nominating committee wrote, "Suzie has a strong sense of community and through Girl Scouts and Bible Camps, has donated hundreds of volunteer hours to the Lemont community. Due to COVID-19, this past year has been incredibly hard for any teen to volunteer, but she has still been very involved and takes care of her fellow team and bandmates, making sure no one is left out and no one is feeling the COVID blues."
