Lemont Community Celebrates Former Children's Librarian
Community members have organized an event to celebrate Inman, which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the CORE.

LEMONT, IL — Several Lemont residents have worked together to organized an open house to celebrate former Lemont Library Children's Librarian Mary Inman. Inman, better known as 'Miss Mary,' was fired from the library in August, and the community has rallied behind her, with many calling for her to be reinstated to her former position.
Inman was an employee at the Lemont Library for more than 30 years, and residents say she impacted countless children. Community members have organized an event to celebrate Inman, which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the CORE.
According to the Facebook event page, there will be refreshments, crafts and a special story time by Inman. This is an all-ages event, and Inman will read to guests at 3:45 p.m.

"We started this campaign because many Lemont community members have asked how they can express their appreciation for Miss Mary’s 30+ years of service to our town’s children," the GoFundMe page states. "She has fostered a love of books and learning in thousands of Lemont’s children. Many credit her influence in their choice of studies and careers. Miss Mary is one in a million – always ready with a friendly smile and encouraging word. She remembers every child who has attended her classes and programs, not just their name, but who they are – their interests, what makes them happy."
The GoFund Me has a goal of $5,000, and as of this writing on Oct. 4, $600 has already been raised.
