Lemont Dolphin Swimmer Wins Rookie of the Meet Award

The Lemont Park District Board and Staff would like to congratulate the Lemont Dolphins Swim Team on an extremely “job well done” during the team’s participation in the Illinois Swimming Senior Championship. Not only was this the first time the Dolphins scored points at this level in its short six years as a team, swimmer Makaila Scheiblein was honored with the 2016 Female Rookie of the Meet award.

This was a great honor not only for 16-year-old Makaila, but for the Lemont Park District Dolphins Swim Team, a USA Swimming affiliated club. Makaila earned this notable award through exceptional performances. Going into the meet, Makaila had the 26th fastest time in the 1000 Free (40 lengths of the pool). For this event she dropped eight seconds and finished in 21st place! For the 100 Breaststroke, going into the meet she had the 55th fastest time. She amazingly finished the meet in 11th place and dropped 2.7 second achieving a NCSA Junior National Qualifying time.Going into the meet, she was the 54th fastest time in the 200 Breaststroke. She qualified for finals and finished the meet in 12th place, dropping 6.4 Seconds, just shy of another NCSA Junior National Time. This high school sophomore, not only made her entire team proud, but she also made the Lemont Park District very proud.

Additionally, other Lemont Park District Dolphins whom also swam exceptionally well at the Senior Championships were Melanie Scheiblein, Sylvia Kobylak and Grace Walter.
